Korean medical AI company Mediwhale has secured KRW 20 billion (approximately $14.5 million USD) in a Series C funding round, bringing its total cumulative funding to KRW 51.2 billion. The company specializes in retinal image-based cardiovascular disease prediction, positioning itself at the intersection of ophthalmology and preventive cardiology.
Premier Partners led the round, pointing to Mediwhale's proprietary retinal AI technology and growing commercial momentum as the primary rationale for the investment. A broad group of co-investors participated alongside the lead, including KB Investment, Quad Asset Management, IMM Investment, Hana Ventures, AON Investment, and Startup Partners.

At the center of Mediwhale's commercial portfolio is Dr. Noon CVD, an AI-powered diagnostic tool that analyzes retinal photographs to assess a patient's cardiovascular disease risk. The solution is non-invasive, requiring only a standard eye exam, and delivers predictive accuracy described as comparable to that of a cardiac CT scan. This accessibility has driven meaningful adoption among primary care providers looking for scalable early detection tools.
The fresh capital will be directed toward several key priorities: expanding the domestic and international reach of Dr. Noon CVD, progressing its U.S. FDA De Novo authorization application, and funding global clinical trials to build the clinical evidence base needed for broader market acceptance.
On the capital markets front, Mediwhale is preparing for a Kosdaq listing via the technology special listing pathway, with a target window in the first half of 2027.
